Some of my best friends who read this blog have noticed I haven’t been “online” for quite some time. It’s a very busy time for me, I’ve got so much work to do and with the newborn I barely have time to rest.

Anyhow, to get away from all the work I’ve got, I managed to read some articles about my favorite big cats, white lions.

Did you know that there are only 500 white lions in the world left? They are in captivity, because white lions can barely survive in the wild due to their white skin.

In an article published today on Boston.com, I read about Ramses, a 2 years old white lion who lives at the Capron Park Zoo, New England, since December 2007.

He’s sharing the same cage with two lionesses, Kayla and Nyala, and aparently, the two “ladies” are the ones who rule things aroung the 4,800 square-foot cage.

The three lions appeared to get along, even when Ramses attempted to interrupt the females at play or rest. The hope is that Ramses will mate with either Kayla or Nyala, sisters who both have a brownish-orange coats but carry the recessive gene that creates white lions. There is a 75 percent chance that offspring will have the same kind of coat as Ramses.

It’s a good chance that Ramses will have white cubs.
In other news, three white lions cubs were born in South Africa.

Also, a family of white lions is being released from a game park in South Africa. Apparently there are some good people on this Planet who care about white lions and who are ready to make everything in their power to help these wonderful big cats.
Because white lions are so rare, they are considered divine by locals and are an easy prey for hunters interested in nothing but profit.
