Lions had a very important role in religion and folklore; from Mesopotamia and Medieval Europe many cultures worshiped lion lookalike gods. This way many people worshiped the lion, the mighty creature, the king of the jungle and they made statues that represent a strong, fearless lion. If you’re into mythology and astrology you’d better check this site, this one and this one.
